People love artists.
It’s certainly true! It’s one of the most amazing revelations I’ve discovered since making my life and living as an artist. Mark my words, when people find out that you are an artist they will open up and begin yakking away about the arts and how well their grandkids can draw or how they wish they could draw. I hear that a lot. Occasionally they will drop project ideas or odd requests for you to consider. I just had a woman recently ask if I could make a silhouette drawing of her. Of course I could! What could be simpler? Drawing a person in silhouette is uber easy since you are leaving them entirely in shadow, thus obscuring all identifying features save their overall contour and shape. It’s like turning a person into a human Rorschach inkblot which is probably an improvement for many of them. She was only asking so I don’t know how serious she was or if she was just making small talk. Just poking the artist as many people do I suppose to see if she even liked me and what I can do. Or maybe she was in a talkative mood and wanted to grab an ear. That happens too so artists need to be excellent listeners. Even though I’ve never been a great listener I still had the good sense to pretend I was and I guess it must’ve worked. You can ask what’s her name with the funny bun!
